Synopsis

Emily Carter, a children's librarian, finds her adoption papers after her adoptive mother's death, learning her birth father is wealthy philanthropist Richard Sterling—her ex-husband Eric's boss. She uncovers that Sterling framed her birth mother Margaret and other staff for corporate fraud decades prior to evade punishment. Emily gathers the wronged victims'testimonies and exposes Sterling at his mayoral campaign rally, triggering investigations that land him in prison. She publishes Margaret's journal, launches a legal aid fund for workplace victims, adopts teen Lily who later becomes a justice lawyer. Sterling dies incarcerated, and Emily finds peace carrying on her mother's pursuit of fairness.
